Identification requirements for a police check depend on the type of check and the issuing authority. Most applicants are completing a Vérification des antécédents criminels coordonnée au niveau national (NCCHC), which has specific ID rules set by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). Those requirements are set out below.
ID required for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) #
Fournir trois identity documents — one from each group below — and at least one must include a photo. You can’t use the same document across two groups (for example, if your driver licence is Document 1, it can’t also be Document 2).

A few rules that apply to every document:
- documents must be current, valid and legible — foreign documents require an accredited English translation
- clear scans or photos are acceptable, provided they’re unaltered
- your document set must evidence your full legal name, date of birth and photo ID
