Identification requirements for a police check depend on the type of check and the issuing authority. Most applicants are completing a Control de antecedentes penales coordinado a escala nacional (NCCHC), which has specific ID rules set by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). Those requirements are set out below.
ID required for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) #
Proporcione tres identity documents — one from each group below — and at least one must include a foto. You can’t use the same document across two groups (for example, if your driver licence is Document 1, it can’t also be Document 2).

A few rules that apply to every document:
- documents must be current, valid and legible — foreign documents require an accredited English translation
- clear scans or photos are acceptable, provided they’re unaltered
- your document set must evidence your full legal name, date of birth and photo ID
