If you’re a jobseeker applying for a Nationally Coordintaed Criminal History Check or another background check through Worker Checks, you’ll be asked to provide a Position or Role Title during your application.
💡 What to Enter #
If you are not yet employed or applying for work but need a check as part of recruitment, simply enter:
Position:
Seeking employment
This clearly tells the system (and any requesting organisation) that you are currently applying for roles rather than already holding a position.
📋 Why This Matters #
The Position field helps Worker Checks and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) record the purpose of your background check.
Using “Seeking employment” ensures your check is valid for general job-application purposes and not tied to a single employer.
This option is commonly used for:
- Jobseekers registering with recruitment agencies
- Students applying for placements
- Casual or contract workers between roles
- People renewing checks before starting new employment
✅ Example Entry #
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Position | Seeking employment |
| Purpose | Employment / Pre-employment screening |
| Organisation | Self / Individual applicant |
