How Does Worker Checks Verify My Identity?

Worker Checks uses biometric matching to verify your face against a verified document.

1. Start Verification: Receive an SMS link to begin the process on your mobile phone.
2. Take Selfies: Capture a regular selfie and a smiling selfie to assess “liveness”.
3. Upload ID Document: Photograph your passport or driver license, matched against the Government Document Verification Service (DVS) for authenticity.
4. Receive Notification: Once verified, you’ll get an SMS and email. Your VOI will be available in your Worker Checks portal for printing or e-sharing.

Mobile Phone Required

A mobile phone or tablet is necessary to complete your verification. Your phone’s camera will be used to photograph your ID documents and take selfies, processed using facial biometrics and OCR technology.

• Australian Passport (expired up to 3 years is acceptable)
• Foreign Passport (current only)
• Australian Driver License, Learner Permit, or Provisional License

Your VOI includes an image of your biometric ID document and the following information:

• All Names
• Date of Birth
• Address
• Document used for Biometric Matching
• Date Validated
