Who needs a Police Check TAS?

Individuals applying for jobs, volunteering, licensing, or visas. Employers running checks on staff, contractors, or volunteers. Educational institutions and licensing bodies also commonly request one.

Is the check specific to TAS, or does it cover other states too?

It’s national. The check covers all states and territories, not just Tasmania — a conviction recorded interstate will still appear.

Do I need Registration to Work with Vulnerable People as well?

If your role involves children, the elderly, or people with disability, yes — RWVP is a separate Tasmanian scheme. A standard National Police Check from Worker Checks does not replace it.

Can I get a check for someone else?

No. Informed consent from the individual is required to obtain a police check on their behalf.

How long is my certificate available after I receive it?

Your result is available in your Worker Checks portal for 3 months. Under Commonwealth law, the result is then removed — download and save your certificate within that window.
