How Does Worker Checks Verify My Identity Online?

Worker Checks uses secure biometric identity verification to match your face to a verified identity document.
The entire Verification of Identity (VOI) process is completed online using your mobile phone.

1. Start Verification: Receive an SMS link and begin the VOI process on your mobile phone or tablet.
2. Take Live Selfies: Capture a standard selfie and a smiling selfie so our system can confirm “liveness” and prevent spoofing.
3. Upload Your ID Document: Photograph your passport or driver licence. The document is checked against the Australian Government Document Verification Service (DVS) and assessed for authenticity.
4. Receive Your VOI Result: Once verified, you will receive an SMS and email. Your VOI result is stored in your secure Worker Checks portal for printing or e-sharing with employers and organisations.

Mobile Phone or Tablet Required

A mobile phone or tablet with a working camera is required to complete your Verification of Identity online.
Your device is used to capture photos of your ID documents and your selfies, which are processed using facial biometrics and OCR (optical character recognition) technology to confirm your identity.
