How do I check that I'm legally able to work in Australia?
To ensure you, or your workers comply with all Australian laws and Australian employer standards, it is recommended that you obtain two checks:
- An Australian police check – $40
- A right to work check – $8.80

Who can legally work in Australia?
In Australia, you can legally work if you are:
- An Australian or New Zealand citizen.
- An Australian permanent resident.
- Have the right Visa. Please note, Australian visas can have restrictions including only being able to work for a certain employer or a specific number of hours.
Note: Foreign nationals who don’t have a valid visa are not allowed to work in Australia. This can include a person whose visa has expired or been cancelled.

Worker Police and worker VISA checks can be sent from your business portal – simply using the workers email. Australian Police Checks and VISA checks for workers can by both Employer or User pays. This option is selected in your business portal when requesting checks for workers.
We add your brand to all emails pertaining to yor police checks for staff or VISA checks for workers – this is so your people aren’t confused by receiving an email from an organisation them may not have heard of.
We can monitor Working with Children Checks by screening weekly - free of charge
– If you wish to register as a worker who will be working with children, you will need a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
For organisation’s who hold an account to screen workers – if the worker has a WWCC – we will screen weekly at no additional cost. Results will be available in your business portal. If there is a check discrepancy – you will receive an alert.
